Average yield - Mushroom Cultivation (2024)

Im curious how many oz per run should be expected.
Ive gotten 3-4 oz off 2.5 lbs of spawn and counting.
Is that low or high or average?

That heavily depends on variety, genetics, how well the sub was maintained and too many other variables to get a true number. Not all tubs are canopies.

I try to shoot for an ounce of dried fruit per quart of spawn in my first flush as my minimum. I try not to overthink this subject very much anymore personally but if you are looking to up yields off the same amount of spawn then a good place to start according to RR is to increase the surface area from which your mushrooms can grow.

Once I switched from doing unbodified tubs (Nothing wrong with them I just use different tubs now) to Pasty EZ dials and moved to 86qt tubs with far better dimensions than my previous 76l tubs I noticed a marked increase in yield from the same genetics.

All goes hand in hand though.

6500k light on 12/12, Clean spawn, good genetics, properly hydrated substrate (too wet or too dry makes for smaller fruits) proper surface conditions.

I cannot remember where I was going with this but if I get a 1/2lb dry from a tub after combining first and second flushes I consider it a good investment of the $0.66 cents worth of oats and $4 worth of coir.

I used to have a clone that could do 500+ wet grams per quart of spawn used. 5 quarts of spawn to a bucket of coir verm was giving me between 2500 and 3000+ wet grams first flush. I did a few growlogs with it. I think it was the same one I did my bathtub grow with although I did have a few issues with that grow, wasn’t my best work.

In a standard monotub it kicked ass at a 1:3 ratio. Sucked in bottles or other unbroken subs like PF tek, it had to be spawned with a top layer of coir (no top layer and it sucked). But give it what it wanted and it was a home run everytime.
