I want to make a hypixel skyblock mod (ah flipper) can some guide help me get started? (2024)

I have 0 experience coding, other than some Python from school. Can some guides help me get started with specifically skyblock mods? I want to make mods like an ah flipper, secret routes (like in Badlion) and many more QoL mods.

If there are any spelling mistakes let me know. English is not my first languag

If you want to create mods you should start by learning Java or Kotlin first. There are plenty online resources on this as well as books. Kotlin for example has an official introduction but it might be a little terse for you considering you don't seem to have much experience yet.

Before starting your first mod you should try yourself on some smaller projects like a command line calculator to actually learn your tools first. It might take a while until you are ready to start modding but you are unlikely to achieve much when you don't learn the basics first. It's like trying to sprint when you cannot walk properly yet.

Once you think you are ready and have finished a few smaller projects you can start by learning Forge if you want to create mods for 1.8. There's a guide for this on the Hypixel Forums but it's a little old.
If you want to create mods for more modern versions I would recommend using Fabric instead but you can use Forge for that too (or it's fork NeoForged).
You can probably also find various online resources for Forge, Fabric and NeoForged.

There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of guides out there on how to mod for Minecraft. It would likely make more sense to start with those rather than someone here trying to re-explain modding for the 1000th time. However, when it comes to actually coding, for starters, Hypixel has a thread pinned in the "Code Help" section as a beginners guide to developing Forge mods. Again, this guide is old, and the Minecraft modding scene has had its own changes and developments since then. You may want to also look at other guides, which again again, you can find on Google or these forums themselves.

You said you don't have any practical programming experience, and I would highly recommend you familiarize yourself with basic programming concepts before jumping into Minecraft modding. Ideally you would do this in Java, because Java is a compiled language and it's what's used in Minecraft, but if you feel more comfortable using Python for now, that is okay. Minecraft modding introduces concepts beyond that of basic programming (e.g. event-driven programming, bytecode manipulation) which you maybe don't want to dive into immediately.
