The Kagrumez Trials is a miscellaneous quest in Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC. The Quest takes the form of three trials in the Dwarven ruin of Kagrumez. The trials are initated by placing Kagrumez Resonance Gems into a console in the middle of the room. Two of the resonance gems needed to complete the later trials are located in the depths of other Dwarven ruins on Solstheim. The player is rewarded for completing each Trial.

Completing the first trial opens a nearby door that contains a Dwarven Robot 'Pet' called the Steadfast Dwarven Spider. The second allows the player into an additional room containing another pet called the Steadfast Dwarven Sphere. Only one of these pets can follow you at a time. The final trial awards you with a good amount of loot, as well as the Dwarven Black Bow of Fate.

  • Find Resonance Gems across Solstheim to complete the Kagrumez Trials.

Kagrumez Resonance Gems can be found in the following locations:

  • One can be purchased from Revus Sarvani (at an unmarked location north-west of Tel Mithryn).
  • One can be found in the Nchardak Aqueduct
  • Inside Kagrumez on a Reaver (2)
  • Inside Fahlbtharz

Enter Kagrumez and follow the passage to a door. Reavers can be heard talking on the other side of the door. Enter the room and defeat the Reavers. Search the Reavers. One of them has two Kagrumez Resonance Gems, as well as Raleth Eldri's Notes on Kagrumez. Take the Kagrumez Resonance Gems and read the notes. These refer to Kagrumez as the site of a set of trials. Read further for more clues on how to proceed.

The console in the middle has nine holes in it, some of which need to be filled with a Kagrumez Resonance Gem. The number of gems, and the sequence thereof, is dependant on whichever gate needs to be opened. On each gate is a replica of the console, and the correct sequence to be used.

To the left is a gate on which a replica of the console can be found. This first gate requires two Kagrumez Resonance Gems in order to be opened. The pattern for the first door is: left middle and right bottom.

A wall rises up around the player once the correct combination has been inserted. When the wall drops down again, defeat the Dwarven Spiders and the Dwarven Ballista Masters.

The gate opens once the enemies have been defeated. Proceed through the gate and follow the passageway to a room. The quest starts now. This room contains a lot of Dwarven Metal Ingots, as well as quite a few Dwarven Oil. There is also a lever in this room. Activate the lever and a wall slides down revealing a Dwarven Spider. This spider is friendly and will follow the player if asked. It does not carry objects as a normal follower would. This automaton is called Steadfast Dwarven Spider. The next gate is also in this room. The sequence for the gate requires three Resonance Gems and is: middle top, middle bottom and right bottom.

After this point you will need more Kagrumez Resonance Gem to proceed. There is one gem located in the dwarven ruin of Nchardak. It can only be obtained after being unlocked in the Path of Knowledge Quest. Head to the Aqueduct. The gem is located in an area to the East that needs to be jumped too.

The other gem is located in Fahlbtharz. Journey through the dungeon to the Boiler Room. There are 6 Valves that must be shot, and each fills a different amount of lights in the center. You must shoot the correct valves to equal 20 lights. Any more, and Dwemer enemies will come out and attack you. Shoot the valves in the far left, middle left, and middle right to open the door. Proceed to the final chamber the requires two Central Dynamos to be placed to open the door to the treasure, including the Kagrumez Resonance Gem.

Head back to Kagrumez and to the console and align the Resonant Gems in the correct sequence. The wall appears again. Defeat the spiders and the spheres when the walls drop. Beware of the fire traps. Return to the first room and continue through the now open gate. The next room contains a chest with some loot, as well as a lever which reveals a Dwarven Sphere called Steadfast Dwarven Sphere.

The sequence for the next gate requires four Resonant Gems and is: left top, left bottom, middle centre and right bottom. return to the console to enter the sequence. The wall appears again. Defeat the spiders the guardian when the walls drop. Beware of the lightning arcs. The black fluid also drains health. Head back to the now open third gate. The quest is complete on reaching the next room. The following can be looted:

  • Dwarven Metal Ingots
  • Dwarven Black Bow of Fate (50% chance for each attribute to absorb 25 points of Health, Stamina and/or Magicka)
  • Chest with Orcish Battleaxe of Winnowing (absorb 20 points of Magicka) and other loot.
  • Dwarven Centurion Master (Inactive)

  • This quest does not begin until the first trial is completed and the door with the code for the second trial is found.
  • The Steadfast Dwareven Spider and Sphere work like pets, and can be used in conjunction with a companion. If told to leave they will return to Kagrumez where they were first discovered.
  • If destroyed they will respawn, eventually, where you originally found them in their respective places in Kagrumez.
